Other: Nova likes to keep herself active and fit, so on top of being so tall she is svelte and supple. Her dress sense is fashionable, always has been, and boastful. She likes to wear colour, though she usually finds a way to throwing some black in there too. She likes to wear her long hair loose, as far as possible, though she knows it is not always possible. She has always and will always look regal simply by being the person she is and have this indescribable grace about the way she moves.

Personality: Nova is a party girl. She likes to be around people, or rather have them around her. She loves to be the centre of attention and loves to be who everyone is taking about (for scandalous reasons and for none other, naturally). She doesn’t like gossip, per se, that is to say that if it doesn’t pertain to her personally or indirectly she usually won’t want to listen to it. Nov will quite easily tell people what she thinks of them and how stupid they are being, provided that is how she feels. She is very straight forward and crass at times; the feelings of others mean little to her as she does not experience them personally.
She is very good at sticking to her principles, however twisted they may seem. Her determination and stubbornness keep her motivated to throw people’s expectations of her and prove them wrong when they least expect it. She appears to be shallow and avaricious on the surface and some may think that there is more to her then that. This is one of the biggest expectations she dashes on a daily basis. Nova knows she is superficial and doesn’t see anything wrong with it. That is the way she is and she won’t change for anyone.
By no means does Nova Stdyd take criticism well. She does not like being told what she can and cannot do and will go out of her way to do what she has been told not to with no thought to the consequences. Nova is the type of person to barge in, guns blazing, shoot first and ask questions later. Consequences never enter into her hemisphere of thought and she rarely thinks of others. Self-righteous and self-serving, Surrinova does not like the burden of responsibility for any one other then herself.
There are few things Nova cares about but those things that she does she does so obsessively. She is obsessive about physical action, being a creature of movement and action. Nov will throw herself at whatever she needs to, mostly literally. She enjoys activities that require physicality, such as running, jujitsu and yoga, and finds the mindless constant drum of blood pumping through her veins a welcome feeling. She keeps herself fit, exercising as much as possible, and keeps herself healthy, rather obsessively. She is obsessive about keeping things tidy, clean and organised. Though she had people to do it for her when she was young, she quickly learnt that being on her own she was the only one who knew how she liked things done and how to do it for herself.
From her tall height, Nova looks down on everyone, finding them all to be beneath her. This does not detract from her understanding of how people function and what it takes to get them to do what she wants them to do for her. Manipulative might be a word too weakly fitted for this woman but to put it mildly she is a rather Machiavellian character. If there is something she wants out of you she will be your best friend. She doesn’t show her true emotions to anyone, hiding her true face from the world so well that in recent years it seems that not even she knows that face. One emotion she does not mind showing is anger, though it may not be her true reaction. Like her name suggests, Nova can be hot headed, flaring up one moment to come to a crescendo of anger, then calming to serene tranquillity the very next instant. Her mood is unpredictable but always passionate and backed up with true independent gusto that turns to gumption and fearlessness.
Having grown up and lived with money and infirm hands, Nova is used to getting what she wants when she wants it. She is boastful about what she can do, both with her ability and otherwise, to get her way and for boasting sake. She enjoys and finds delight in making threats, idle or no, and has also decided that they are the best way to get the things she wants. She doesn’t care for the rules of humans, finding herself to be superior to them in every way that could ever be devised. Though her anally retentive ways, her fun loving nature and crass speech make her fun to be around when you are not at the receiving end of her lashing tongue.
Family:
Mother: Elizavren Stdyd, deceased, died of old age and too much liquor consumption.
No siblings. (That she knows about at any rate.) [/ul]
History: Born to wealth and money, Surrinova Zandra Stdyd was the first and only child to two heirs (though with both of her parents’ infidelity it is uncertain that she doesn’t have or hasn’t had siblings). Nova grew up as most children did in the nineteenth century, handed to her nanny the moment the umbilical was cut and only seeing her parents at dinner time, if they were there to have dinner with. Both Mr and Mrs Stdyd were always off at parties, though hardly together, and had little time for a child. The only provision that was given to those in charge of making sure she was happy, was to make sure she stayed happy. Surri, as she was known then, got everything she wanted, when she wanted, already developing an adult outlook on life with a “the world owes me” state of mind.
Surri developed a special ability when she was very young, and this made her violent on top of being spoiled, which meant she got little opposition to her demands of the household staff. The energy that exploded from her hands was hot and seared many of the unfortunate servants. She ordered them not to say anything or else it would be much worse then a simple burning of the flesh. Her parents never did know of her special talent. She developed it, taught herself how to control it, dominate it, as she did everything else in her life.
Surri was ten when her father died. To her, his was always a suspect death but she gained much from it, so was not about to contradict her mother (who was the one who found Mendryk). He accidentally cut his throat while shaving according to Elizavren, leaving Surri and Vren with the house, the money and his many estates. Mrs Vren Stdyd, though she went by her maiden name of Courtier from Mendryk’s passing, spent the rest of her life drinking and partying, being away from home. This suited Surrinova just fine because she became the boss of the house before she even became a teenager. In this way Surri was spoiled beyond belief, learning about manipulation and how people responded to threats, becoming the quintessential spoiled only child.
She watched her mother drink herself into a stupor, going from being the most beautiful and elegant woman Surri had ever seen to becoming a dependent, weak slob who would do anything to feed her addiction. Surri began to find her mother repugnant and replaced her mother – who had been her idol – with herself as the height of sophistication and intellect. She grew to be a woman, tall and regal as her mother had once been, and after a few decades she still looked like she was twenty three. Being a vaguely educated woman of the time, Surri soon puzzled out that it was her ability that had given her her advantage over people and her everlasting youth. It was especially fun because when Elizavren died in 1880 Surri was sixty six and looked twenty three and she had her mother’s money, the money the daffy deceased woman had coveted like it would save her looks, her body, her life.
Having a cunning mind, Surri invested her money in businesses she saw potential in and watched them flourish. However, she was careful not to make it obvious that a woman born in the early nineteenth century was doing it, as this sort of thing was not permitted most of the time. She bought many houses around the world, rented them for as much as she could and earned more money. She travelled the world, dinned with royalty and was even in prison for a short while too, all the while feeling and looking like she was twenty three.
Through all this the simple question, which was less simply answered, bothered her: why did she have this ability she did? It was not as though her parents were special people, not like they did very much other then drink and party. Why then did she, Surrinova Zandra Stdyd have this very cool power? Around the time of the First World War, Nova, as she preferred to be called from 1903, had gotten her answer.
She had been in her home in Jamaica when she got news from beloved England. Her large house there have been ransacked and she travelled with all hast to get there. On the boat across the Pacific, Nova met a man who told her about a group of people and their belief that action had to be taken to stop the War. She had agreed whole heartedly, being a woman who very much believed action solved everything. She had not known that he was not talking about the war that she was, but that had not mattered once she reached England.
Nov bumped into the man again as she was getting off the ship and found out that he was going to the same part of England as she was, though she was not comfortable telling him exactly where, and so they decided to go together, using his carriage. It was obvious he had money and for a young looking man Nova saw opportunity and fun, so was happy to go with. As they travelled he spoke more about the War he had spoken of before and divulged that it was not the war between man and man, but something more primal then that. The terms he used, Lycan and Vampire were strange to her ears and she did not believe, at first, but no sooner had he uttered the names then something large hit the carriage and it went crashing to the ground, Erick landing on top of Nova. Much embarrassed as he was, Nova quickly got out from under him and stuck her head out of the now broken window. Looking around she saw nothing. She turned back to Erick but already he was pulling out two large guns and putting one in her hand.
Confused and dazed, Nov followed with no argument and stayed behind Erick as they got out of the toppled down carriage and hunted down the Lycan, killing it before it killed them. Nova made the killing shot; she bragged about it a lot later on, once she fully understood what had happened. She had not believed an hour before but she would never doubt again. The stranger explained more fully, once they got on the road again, both covered in dirt and tattered clothing: that the war between Lycans and Vampires was as older then memory served and that people such as himself were trying to end that war. It had become too costly to warrant placating. She found out that he was like her, gifted with abilities, Malkavians he called them and so she discovered the answers to all her questions. The two travelled together to her ransacked house and stayed together for a number of years, Nova learning what she felt she needed to from Erick as the time went on and World War I raged on, all the time remaining detached from him.
Once the economy had settled after the huge mess of Wall Street, Nova felt her calling was to America and she left Erick in her own house after he had asked her to marry him. She felt no remorse or sorrow at leaving him, she simply did. America was an exciting place to be at that turbulent time and she enjoyed every whirlwind that came her way. She met many more like her but never got close to any of them, feeling that they weren’t worth her effort. There was a fiery red-head named Dixi Chase that Nov bumped into a few times over the course of fifty years and Nova suspected that she was like herself or at least had a long time to look forward to but Dix was always so elusive that Nov could never find out.
The twentieth century saw Nova Stdyd back in Europe, travelling as she pleased. She still owned her father’s pieces of lands, under the family name as a descendent of her own family (source of much laughter for her). She is always attending parties, having a good time, and on the look out for others such as herself. Though she is vehement about the fact that she doesn’t need others, Nov needs the affirmation that she is as marvellous as she thinks and that she can still party like a twenty-something year old.
