Expecting a rap at the door in any second Harold poured himself a strong whiskey from the fine, glass tumbler upon the silver tray set on his pristeen desk. The place was generally spick and span, he liked to keep everything in order, neat and clean, for a cluttered workplace indicated a cluttered mind, and that was most certainly not the case with Harold. His mind was sharp and he thought with greater clarity than most, others might call it a devious mind, and he would be inclined to agree with them, but it was necessary for his very survival, and more importantly, the survival of countless others.
Such a one he meant to protect would be walking through his door in a few moments, naturally on time being late would bear a suitable punishment as one had to be on time with everything, or else you'd let someone down when it truly mattered, everyone had to be concious of the passing of time, especially Harold as he had so many plans in motion; just like the one he was about to spark off now, all crucial and interlinked, everything was intertwined somehow.
He'd been watching the career of this young man with interest, even had a hand in getting him where he was today, not that the lad had particualrly required it, he excelled in the areas that Harold needed, especially for this mission, even his flaws leant himself to it; quite perfect. He had a particularly critical mission for this young man, one he expected to be accomplished with due professionalism, his orders were not be questioned, only clarified, for the seer Logan was to work closely with was of the utmost importance. He was carefully working these seers exactly where he needed them, smiling he briefly glanced over the resume for the kid, yes he would do perfectly, especially given his proven ability to cope under severe pressures and his being a womaniser helped in this instance; for he wouldn't become attached to his target but would simply do what was required; in theory, he would have to be very careful with that, if Logan was compromised he might potentially have to remove him.
On hearing the knock Mr Veldon smiled standing and walking over briskly to open the door for his colleague as he would have him believe to be, rather than a mere underling, this Logan was useful, very useful. "Mr Logan, do be seated and help yourself to refreshments." Directing the young man to a comfortable chair he strode around the other side of his desk, smiling and being truly amiable; it wasn't even an act, "I've an important assigment for you, critical." He began carefully scrutinizing Logan's every move.

He had not bothered to go back to his flat after having to cover Nick's shift last night with Vince. He knew he was in work again in the afternoon, his shift having been changed slightly so he could get a few hours rest, though a few hours being the maximum four. Deryn should have been off work yesterday and night but since Nick phoned in sick, which he heard Harold was not happy about, Deryn had to cover Nick's shift, which Deryn was not happy about since he hadnt had a day off in over two months. It was a nightmare for him, he was afterall, only Human and yet they worked him as though he had the endless stamina of a Vampire or a Lycan. Though he perceveered as his work was important to him and he believed he was doing the right thing, besides, he was one of the only reliable people left in this place so he did not complain, and on top of that, the money was well worth the hours and Deryn had plenty which he didnt know what to do with.
He recieved a rather violent shake and awoke to see Vince staring at him. "Whaddyawuntvinnie?" Came Deryn's extreamly tired and slurred words, to which Vince just laughed as Deryn sat up in the bunk and looked at his comrade through tired eyes. "You best get up and get dressed Logan." Deryn threw back the covers, he was in dire need of a coffee that was sure. The lack of sleep now was beginning to get to him and Kat had been trying to get ahold of him. Because of his job being highly secret, working in Section 13 was an honour unlike any Deryn had known, but it came with a price. You could not talk to anyone about it, you couldnt even talk to your comrades about certain missions, Deryn and Vinnie had a few of those moments despite the fact they were best mates, they stuck by their honours and witheld the secrecy with their life. Vinnie got him a cup of the most discusting coffee he had ever tasted! Splurting it out he stammered, "What is this!? Last years coffee?" Deryn looked wide eyed at Vinnie who just shrugged and laughed, "Quite possibly, you know how things as simple as coffee doesnt get changed very often." Deryn put the mug down and decided to not drink anymore of the atrocious liquid. "Come on Logan, you need to get dressed, Veldon wants you in his office in ten minutes." He looked down at his watch, "Well you have five minuts now so I suggest you comb your hair on the way down there, catch ya later"
Vince left Deryn stumped, why had Harold wanted to see him? Though he knew he couldnt be late, Harold hated late and it would not work in Deryn's favour to keep the guy waiting. The scots man pulled on his shirt, he had black leather pants on and a black shirt with a black leather jacket and black boots. It was his uniform, the Governments logo promply on the chest of the jacket. Grabbing his comb he dashed out of the barracks and down the hall, ignoring the "Hi Deryn's" off some of the people and dashed past Vinnie who laughed at him, he swung around so he was facing him, but running backwards, "Im going to kill you Jason Vincent! Mark my words, If Harry has my head I'm having yours!" Laughing he turned back around in one swift movement and carried on running down the corridor, ignoring one of the older Soldiers who told him to quit running, he wasnt over Deryn anyway as Deryn was a Field Agent not a Soldier, even though he had worked with them due to his experiance.
Stopping outside Veldon's door, he took a moment to catch his breath, bent over, hands on his knees he took a few deep breaths before standing up straight and knocking on the door. Veldon intimidated Deryn, then again Veldon intimidated most people so it didnt matter too much. When Veldon opened the door, Deryn stared straight and gave him a Salute which every man did who first came within his presence. "You wanted to see me, Sir?" He walked through after being told to Enter and upon being told to sit, Logan did as he was ordered, wondering if he was going to say something like he had used up all his uses and was time to be released. He took a small water as he thought it impolite to refuse, but promptly stayed away from the Whiskey as he liked to have a clear head when working, it seemed as though Deryn was being sent on another assignment and he looked to the desk and saw his file amongst many other Agents files. It seemed Harold thought Deryn best suited. "What is the assignment, Sir?"

Hawk eyes following the field agent as he moved with effortless grace into the office after snapping off the obligatory smart salute, which Veldon hardly registered at all so used to it he had become, the military particularly wanted it, seemingly requiring that those in command needed a salute every time they walked into the room, personally Veldon found it an awful waste of time, but he had to keep the troops happy, and dismissing the salutes would stir up a hornet's nest.
Noticing he did the smart move and accepted a little water rather than insult his host and decline everything, neither would he want to seem un professional by helping himself to an alcoholic beverage; clearly there was a head upon those young shoulders, unless he did it by pure chance, from Logan's reputation he wouldn't put it past him to have been out drinking the night before and to still be feeling the effects of such heavy binge drinking. But he seemed wide awake, alert and ready for action, or else he would have been fired on the spot.
Secretly impressed that the boy cut straight to business; he'd known many officers delay the actual reason for being there for as long as they could; trying and failing to engage him in simple unnecessary pleasantries, Veldon was a busy man, he didn't care what the wife had been up to at the weekend, unless it impinged upon his officer's effectiveness at work. "A beyond top secret assignment for you this time Logan, you've proven yourself a capable field agent, I've watched your career with interest." That was a big deal, Veldon rarely took notice of the masses, yet he'd plucked this young man from them.
Handing over a file for Logan to peruse he began, "you are to get close to a certain young lady of key importance to Section 13. She must trust you with her very existance. I want her like putty in your hands if possible." Smiling he came to the crux of the matter, "her name is Simone Giles, and she is a seer. One of only two in existance." His cold eyes bored into Logan, studying him shrewdly, "if you have any questions ask them now, for you will have no further opportunity, become a large part of her life and await further instructions, that's if you choose to accept this assignment of course?" His eyes twinkled on asking this and he brought his glass to his lips taking a slight slip of the precious, old liquid, only the finest.

Logan was aware of Veldon's eyes on him constantly but, as much as he felt uncomfortable, he kept his professional appearance and attitude and appeared to be unfazed by it as he moved into the room. Apparently he was to be sent on some top secret assignment, just another one he could never mention. It would probably be hazerdous if he even thought about it. So he knew he had to close his mind for this one and appear to be a normal man with no ulterior motive.
This, apparently was going to be a mission like no other. He was, in a way, to begin a new life somewhere different to get this mission going and, in a way, he was looking forward to it, in a way he was not. He was because he could see a new place, but he wasnt because it would mean cutting ties to all this world, apart from Harold. Now there was a depressing thought in itself. The mission better make up for it, which he was soon to see it would do more than make up for it. He hadnt been drinking last night as he had been working with Vinnie around Manchester, keeping an eye on Vampire and Lycan activity.
Deryn was not one to delay a mission, besides what would he bore Harold with? His morning routine? He had no wife, and no kids, nothing really but his job and his weekend antics to keep him in Manchester. He listened to what Harold said, nodding occasionally, clearly thinking as the boss spoke. He tried not to seem to pleased at the fact Harold had been keeping an eye on him and his career, but he knew this Mission would either make him or break him and it wasnt like it was gonna be easy either. He was to get close to a Seer, and there was only one way Deryn could get close to females. By making him seem like he was irresistable. Should be easy.
Logan took the file and opened it, he saw the picture of the female and a smile tugged at him, "Pretty little thing." He looked underneath at the Information the team had gathered, her name was Simone Giles, she was 23, Lived in Cornwall with her sick grandmother. She was in and out of jobs but had got a strained one as a pyschic that couldnt guarentee her any stable income and her grandmother was not getting any better. "I see why she is so important," Deryn said, "A Seer could be very valuable to our cause." He put the file, once he had finished reading it, back on the desk and looked at Harold. "Is there anything I can not do?" He asked, he knew he musnt get too involved, but that wouldnt be a problem, he never got attatched anyway. "I accept the mission."
